Moët & Chandon: Art Meets Altruism

Moët & Chandon contributed an iconic 9L champagne bottle for TIFF 2024 celebrities to sign — its sale will support TIFF’s Every Story fund so that every story gets told.
We all know that the annual Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) celebrates the best films from different parts of the world. However, another important but not so well-known aspect of the festival is the coming together of art and altruism.
Films hold the power to transform and transcend, but not all stories see the light of the day. In 2021 TIFF launched the Every Story fund to provide unrepresented communities and filmmakers a platform to present their work — because good stories can be found anywhere, no matter the ethnicity or location of the people telling them.
“Tiff’s Every Story Fund Challenges The Status Quo, Celebrates Diversity And Creates Opportunities For Equity- Seeking Creators.”
The fund aims to promote diversity, disrupt the status quo and provide opportunities for creators seeking equity. Since 2021, the fund has given money to initiatives that have increased the representation of Black, Indigenous, people of colour, 2SLGBTQ+ and female artists in TIFF film programming.
The fund also aims to highlight diverse perspectives in programming and curation by expanding possibilities and providing free tickets to screenings and programming through partnerships with various communities and other outlets.
Other programs that offer filmmakers the support they need to record their stories and reach their target audiences include alumni programming and professional and talent development initiatives.
At TIFF 2024 Moët & Chandon donated a 9-litre bottle of the most popular champagne in the world — worth on its own more than $2,500 — for A-list celebrities to sign in support of the Every Story fund. Since 2021 the fund has supported initiatives that promote diversity and equity in films.
Pamela Anderson led the way to the autographing event and actors Ben Stiller, Brenda Song, Ben Foster, Chloë Sevigny, Orlando Bloom and Gia Coppola joined in, signing their names on the bottle.
Since then, many esteemed celebrities who graced the TIFF carpet this year have also signed the champagne bottle, including Jacob Elordi, Jennifer Coolidge, Amy Adams, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Henry Golding and Daisy Edgar-Jones.
Later this year, the bottle will be put up for auction, with the proceeds of the sale going to TIFF’s Every Story fund. The fund has already been able to provide support to 220 up-and-coming filmmakers from equity-deserving backgrounds. With the immense support generated in 2024, its goal, to provide a space for unrepresented voices and diverse narratives, seems even more achievable.
The donations collected for the Every Story fund will support a new space for filmmakers and films that have the potential to touch the hearts of us all.
