Hennessy And Fashion Designer Shuting Qiu Reveals The ‘Reimagination’ Collection

Jan 09 2025

In honour of the Chinese Lunar New Year 2025, the Year of the Snake, this exclusive collaboration blends Hennessy’s rich heritage with Qiui’s modern, yet bold, artistic vision.

The Year of the Snake embodies our Western understanding of what the New Year mindset brings. Renewal, positive transformation, and growth from leaving behind the past and embracing new beginnings. For this exclusive collaboration with Maison Hennessy and Shuting Qiu, the element of opportunity was the muse.

Vibrant, abstract interpretations of a snake writhed across the carafe designs, using splashes of colour and prints, such as ancient brocade patterns, to reflect the texture and scales of the snake’s body.

The legendary designer Shuting Qiu, originally from Hangzhou and now based in Shanghai, drew inspiration from her cultural heritage. From the embroidery prints traditionally used in clothing and textiles in her hometown to the jacquard fabric and brocade, this is truly a standout collection, not just in the Hennessy family, but an industry-defining artistic-infused product.

“Hennessy has given me an opportunity to share my ideas and vision with the world, which is an incredible platform for me, as a young designer. The Hennessy carafes are classics, and this is similar to fashion in that every brand has its classic silhouettes, unique designs and colours. My family and I often drink Hennessy during Lunar New Year, and my friends drink it when we hang out; it’s a great, versatile drink, but my favourite way to drink it is simply over ice,” says Shuting Qiu.

Covered with base colours of red, symbolic floral motifs and abstract snake- scale patterns, each bottle tells its unique story of life through the patterns of movements

Taking inspiration from the different blends, Qiu has created two distinct works of art to dress each of the Hennessy bottles: The V.S.O.P edition and the X.O edition.

“It is a great pleasure to welcome Shuting Qiu to embody the spirit with which we usher Lunar New Year festivities. Her designs epitomize a harmonious fusion of tradition and contemporary flair, offering with elegance a fitting homage to our common cultural heritage,” explains Hennessy CEO, Laurent Boillot.

The carafes are so beautiful they even work as a centrepiece. These limited-edition bottles will be available in Canada from January 2025.
