Myles Bullock: Dedicated To The Craft

Hollywood’s rising star embraces a new challenge while savouring the surreal moments encountered along the journey to stardom.
Myles Bullock is rapidly emerging as one of Hollywood’s most compelling talents. Known for his breakout roles in BMF on Starz and the Hulu reboot of White Men Can’t Jump, Bullock is now stepping into the limelight with a major shift in character for his role in Peacock’s true-crime limited series Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist. In this star-studded show he shares the screen with some screen heavyweights including Kevin Hart, Samuel L. Jackson, Don Cheadle, Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson. The series, based on the HeartPodcast of the same name, tells the riveting story of an armed robbery during Muhammad Ali’s legendary 1970 comeback fight.
Bullock, who grew up in South Central Los Angeles, was marked in his early years by a unique blend of city grit and the affluence of Beverly Hills 11 miles to the northwest, where his mother drove him to attend private school. This early exposure to two vastly different worlds shaped Bullock’s adaptability and drive, key traits that would serve him well in his acting career. “It made me feel comfortable in any environment, like I can talk to any human being,” he reflects in a recent interview with Dolce Magazine.
Bullock discovered acting early on, thanks to a cinephile grandmother and a family that loved attending plays and live theatre. He didn’t, however, discover his own love for the craft until he was about 20 years old and attending college. After a rough start in academics, an unexpected opportunity arose when a professor invited him to join a play for class credit. His performance in The Soldier’s Play would ignite a passion that transformed into a career path. “I didn’t know I would love acting until I was in it,” Bullock recalls. “From there was just like,‘Well, I seem to be pretty good at it. Let me see how good I can get.’” And he did, starting with earning a master’s degree in acting from the University of North Carolina, where he was awarded a full-ride scholarship.
“I WANT TO BE A NAME ON THE MARQUEE THAT PEOPLE WANT TO SEE.”
The discipline and dedication learned through theatre training served him well in his transition to television and film. In Fight Night, Bullock embraces a high-stakes role opposite legends he’s long admired. One of the most surreal moments for him was during the first table read, where the Zoom screen was filled with the faces of industry icons. “I’m about to share space, share scenes, share work with these people,” Bullock recalls. “You just don’t get that type of experience right away. So, man, what a privilege, what an honour.”
He was lucky in other ways to have his idols around at this moment. Bullock’s role in Fight Night represents a significant departure from his previous work. He plays Willie Black, a “lovable menace” in a world of criminals. “He’s electric, kind of a live wire,” Bullock says, excited about taking on such a dynamic character. His enthusiasm is evident in how he speaks about the role: “I revel in opportunities to play characters like that.”
Bullock has learned a great deal from working with Hollywood’s finest. He speaks highly of Don Cheadle, whose meticulous preparation left a lasting impression on the young actor. “He’s so prepared, he doesn’t even look at the script on set,” Bullock says, adding that seeing how seasoned actors approach their craft has elevated his own dedication. “It really makes me want to rise to the occasion.”
Despite his rising star, Bullock remains grounded, crediting his community and family for his success. A committed father to a now-two-year-old son, Bullock says that fatherhood has given him a new perspective. “I feel better when I put the needs of someone else in front of mine,” he says, adding that his son brings him a peace he didn’t know he needed. This love for family extends to his passion for giving back to his community in Los Angeles. Bullock actively supports local causes, participating in toy drives, clothing donations and other initiatives to provide school supplies for children in need.
While Fight Night is currently slated as a limited series, Bullock hopes to maximize the moment and leverage this project to further his career. His long- term goal is clear: to become one of the greats. Inspired by great actors like Denzel Washington and Viola Davis, Bullock aspires to have his name alone draw audiences to the screen. “I want to be a name on the marquee that people want to see,” he says. He’s focused not just on career longevity but on building a legacy where his work holds significance and inspires others.
Myles Bullock is undoubtedly on the rise, bringing authenticity, passion and dedication to every project he takes on. There’s no doubt that Hollywood — and the world — will be watching to see where this talented actor goes next.
