Charles and Ron: The Creative Brilliance Of Magnificent Malta

“Our philosophy is timeless design rooted in Maltese culture and Mediterranean spirit.”

Bringing forth creativity in harmony with innovation and tradition, the fashion designers’ bold designs reflect Malta’s history and geography, including its Baroque architecture and deep blue sea that surrounds the idyllic island nation.

“We always start by respecting the foundations of fashion like structure, tailoring and craftsmanship, but we reinterpret it through a bold, modern lens,” say the partners, who first met in Amsterdam in 1992 and have been together ever since. “We both bring different energies to the process, with Ron more focused on the overall silhouette and visual storytelling while Charles’s expertise is in the drape, the texture and technical execution.”

These complementary talents result in bold and creative fashion that has captured the attention of the fashion world. The partners’ Fashion Week 25/26 collection, Sirocco, is the result of their extraordinary collaboration with Heritage Malta. The collection features striking graphic prints of historic maps from the Heritage Malta collection, cartographic elements that serve as a visual representation of journeys taken, borders crossed and identities formed — an homage to Malta’s distinctive role as a cultural crossroads.

Representing Maltese culture on the international stage is in the partners’ creative DNA, and something of which they are very proud.

“It’s definitely organic,” they say about representing their culture through fashion. “Our culture is so much a part of who we are that it naturally weaves its way into our designs. But with that comes a certain responsibility. Our philosophy is timeless design rooted in Maltese culture and Mediterranean spirit.”
