But what really sets TUDOR apart from other brands is the creative energy it focuses on family and unity. With that in mind, to honour the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Chinese festival that celebrates the power of togetherness and is also known as the Moon Festival TUDOR worked with multitalented Dior brand ambassador Jay Chou to create the first-ever moon-phase watch for the 1926 collection.
A collaboration between TUDOR’s designers and Chou demanded subtle sophistication, and there was no better place to start than with the 1926 collection. With that level of collaborative magic, the result is as magnificent as a resplendent full moon lighting up the night sky.
Framed by a perfectly polished bevel, the moon-phase indicator appears at 6 o’clock on three brand-new dials in 39 mm stainless steel cases for the 1926: blue, black and Chou’s own champagne colour. The moon-phase indicator for each dial is distinct, and Chou’s vision for the champagne-coloured dial model has come to life in a truly fantastic way, with the phantom- moonlight gold disc representing the moon hidden behind an inky-black cut-out, slowly appearing and disappearing as the moon waxes and wanes.
It is truly a beautiful piece for any watch enthusiast to add to their collection, and it’s a bold reminder that in 1926 TUDOR was born to dare — and has been daring ever since.
