“What you do makes a difference. And you must decide what difference you want to make.”

— Dr. Jane Goodall

From the first moment we arrived at we were in for an incredible day ahead. As we entered her beautiful, beautiful (yes, we needed to say this twice!) home, we were immediately welcomed in true Roman fashion by her two adorable Chihuahuas, Cacio & Pepe and Carbonara, who gave us the warmest welcome with wagging tails and cuddles.

A few minutes later The Queen of All Pasta came downstairs wrapped in a printed Dolce & Gabbana robe, her hair in a towel still wet from her shower, to give us the biggest hug herself.

It is on occasions such as these that we feel blessed to be able to meet super-kind and authentic characters who, regardless of their huge success or fan base, are a pleasure to be around! And by the end of the shoot this queen had stolen our hearts. We might have attributed that to the pasta alla puttanesca she whipped up for us at the end of our shoot … but no, it was her intoxicating personality and her love for life.

Plus, who else is lucky enough to say that they had The Pasta Queen open her home for an exclusive interview — and prepared a meal for us that was truly delizioso? There’s a saying that the shortest way to a person’s heart is through their stomach — and we can attest to that!

We hope you enjoy this cover story filled with all the same colours, passions and love you might experience on an actual trip to Italy. (Story on page 62.)

But wait — we have more for you in this edition of Dolce. We report on the exclusive groundbreaking event we were invited to in Milan, where we witnessed Audi’s unveiling of its new Audi Concept C automobile, which was nothing short of breathtaking, and Audi’s announcement of its new corporate philosophy, which will set the tone for the design of Audi products in the future. (Story on page 74.)

Dolce loves discovering new talents who are destined to become legends. We discovered Teddy Swims back in the winter of 2023, when he had just one song (and was featured on our cover) … We knew he was the kind of talent people would come to love once discovered. Well, we have the same prediction for Sons of Legion, Adam McInnis and Daddy Jack. Their music is profound and they are one of those rare bands that don’t write music for the industry or for commercial success — instead, they write what feels right and true to themselves. Their mission is to have as many people as possible on the planet listen to their music, and by charting their own course, they have already garnered millions of monthly listeners.

As the late Dr. Jane Goodall said, “What you do makes a difference. And you must decide what difference you want to make.” Her remarkable courage and conviction and lifelong dedication to creating awareness of how humans pose a threat to wildlife and to inspiring harmony between wildlife, humans and nature, has indeed made a profoundly important difference in the world. We mourn Dr. Goodall’s passing and celebrate her life and work on page 92.

In essence, we entrust every story we feature in Dolce with the task of enriching life. And just as music has the power to unite people universally as it transcends boundaries of language, so does food, with its ability to nurture not just our bodies but also fuel our souls. So, whether we help you discover a new song, a pasta dish, a new piece of art or a travel destination, we hope you are inspired to live life with awe and a sense of discovery … but, most of all, with authenticity. We hope you enjoy this edition of la Dolce vita!
