Serene Mediterranean Journeys beautifully combine discovery, reflection and renewal.
There is a different kind of Mediterranean to discover beyond the height of summer as the crowds retire, the light softens, temperatures mellow, and the region settles into a slower rhythm. For Winter 2026–27, Explora Journeys welcomes this quieter season aboard EXPLORA II, transforming the journey between destinations into an opportunity for discovery, reflection and renewal.
“Our Serene Mediterranean Journeys reflect the way today’s discerning guests increasingly want to travel,” says Anna Nash, president of Explora Journeys. “They are seeking experiences that feel more connected, more immersive and more personal.” From seasonal gastronomy and Ocean Wellness to cultural encounters, each element is designed to deepen the connection between traveller and destination.
That philosophy comes to life through unique Shore-to-Table experiences, beginning with a guided market visit alongside an Explora Journeys chef, followed by an interactive masterclass in the onboard Chef’s Kitchen. In Palermo, guests explore Mercato del Capo before preparing to experience Sicilian coastal dishes; in Marseille, a private boat journey to the Vieux-Port fish market precedes an interpretation of bouillabaisse paired with regional wines. Barcelona brings La Boqueria, tapas and cava or cerveza before an onboard Paella Valenciana masterclass. In Puglia, vineyards, olive groves and countryside cuisine offer further insight into local traditions.
Wine enthusiasts can also meet the makers through exclusive vineyard experiences. In Livorno, guests visit Il Palagio, the Tuscan estate of Sting and Trudie Styler, for vineyard and cellar visits, tastings and lunch. Meanwhile, The Truffle Season, offered across the fleet from October through November, celebrates Piedmont truffles with a different creation each day, finished tableside with freshly shaved truffle and Piedmont wine pairings.
Wellness is equally central to the winter experience. Included in the journey fare, Ocean Wellness combines movement, breathwork, meditation and sound-led practices, all inspired by the restorative power of the sea. From February 11 to 23, 2027, the complimentary 12-day A Path to Inner Discovery program onboard the Barcelona-to-Lisbon journey explores yoga, journalling, mantra and pranayama alongside sunrise, sunset and moonlit practices, gong baths and electronic music meditation. Expert-led sessions span neuroscience, nutrition, astrology, holistic well- being and natural movement.
The season extends beyond physical renewal through an intimate program of cultural enrichment. Zelda La Grange, Nelson Mandela’s former personal aide, is set to share reflections on courage, reconciliation and human connection, while acclaimed pianist Maxim Lando brings classical music to the ship. Dr. Helena Boschi and movement coach Shane Benzie add perspectives on resilience, behaviour and natural movement.
Together, these experiences embody Explora Journeys’ Ocean State of Mind: a philosophy where the destination is never simply a place to visit, but a source of inspiration. Aboard EXPLORA II, the Mediterranean becomes more than a backdrop — it becomes a way of travelling, living and reconnecting, with a floating hotel whose address is “the ocean.”
