Chanel’s Spring Summer 2026 Haute Couture Show

A story of personal freedom told with authentic Chanel style.

Coco Chanel once remarked that “fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street — fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” For more than a hundred years after the founding of the luxury fashion house that bears her name, her maison has continued to reflect that ethos. The Chanel Spring Summer 2026 Haute Couture Show reminds the world of the power of embracing an authentic personal style.

Haute couture, with its endless creativity, is at the heart of Chanel: it offers a beautiful combination of luxury and personal touches, using bespoke materials, a rich array of textiles and lavish embroideries that defy conventional limits to create uniquely Chanel Haute Couture ensembles.

What the Spring Summer 2026 Show does beautifully is break the traditional idea of structured silhouettes and showcase a more fluid and free- spirited fashion. The collection strikes a balance between relaxed chic and timelessness.

The collection’s Birds of a Feather theme emphasizes transparency and personal freedom with sophisticated sunlit and translucent hues inspired by birds in nature and the joyful freedom they symbolize. The birds’ different colours and forms also become a metaphor for celebrating unique personalities.

This show marks a noteworthy moment in Chanel’s history — its return to emotional storytelling — and is the début show of Matthieu Blazy, the brand’s new creative director. One of its striking elements is his vision to cast the iconic Chanel suit as a second skin, inspiring its wearers to embrace their true personalities with utmost freedom and confidence.

The show opens with the classic tweed Chanel suit re-envisioned as lighter and more transparent, rendered in softer and lighter fabrics like chiffon and silk organza to symbolize the inner life of the wearer. The suit becomes a part of a refreshing modern narrative of personal agency, yet is still a story that connects with a larger audience.

This collection doesn’t put clothes at its centre, focusing instead on the women who wear them. “Haute couture is the very soul of Chanel — it is the foundation and the full expression of the House,” Blazy says in the show notes. “These are clothes that are as much about the wearer as the designer. It’s the clothes worn that give them a true story; their own story and an emotional resonance, giving women a canvas to tell their own story.”

The collection offers great holiday wardrobe items, from airy knits designed for leisure and aesthetic escape to handbags, shoes, costume jewelry and eyewear, each piece standing out as a deft combination of personal and modern. The eyewear collection, for instance, includes new designs in specialized glasses, including an outstanding pair of butterfly-shaped sunglasses with mother-of-pearl accents.

Each of the many details of intricate craftmanship, including the tiny delicately embroidered motifs, inner layering and mushroom-inspired charms, adds more beauty to the clothes and a new dimension to the show’s overall theme.
